franksmoma 12-26-2005, 11:01 PM This for you guys that circle was talking to on the live chat, I can add just about anything to a saddle, breast collar and bridle-be it new or old. Tooling, gems, silver & conchos. I can't really add full tooling to saddles because this process is done before they put them together-but I can add some boarder & spot tooling to skirts, fenders, pommel and cantel. I also do personalized tooling-like horses name-ranch name on just about anything from saddles to spur straps, belts, bridles, breast collars and leather halters.
longear_lover 12-27-2005, 01:34 AM Those all look fantastic! Thanks for posting them. :) Cowboyskeeper is going to yell at me when she sees this since she insists that bridles for english pleasure don't need any "bling bling". ;) It's one of the few things I miss about riding western, Gamblers saddle and bridle were loaded with silver. Ok, I'll forgo the silver..... maybe just a few rhinestones on his browband.... and his noseband.... and his breast plate...... :D
didjital1 12-27-2005, 09:45 AM Great looking work franksmama!!
franksmoma 12-27-2005, 12:03 PM Thanks, I never had any English customers but you can put anything on a bridle. I was supposed to do a bridle for Kim-I'm still waiting for her to send it to me and what she wants on it!!! Hey Kim if you see this post you need to email me and I will send you my address and we can talk about price and what you want on it!! Some people just want a little something but no alot...so I did a few hobble stirrup straps for them-(those are the light oil straps with the purple gemstones on it) or just a set of spur straps with initials, or saying or what breed their horses are. I did a pair of TWHA, with red, white and blue leather dye in the letters in the shape of the rebel flag-they came out great! i think I have a picture somewhere. I think it all depends on person preference-some like it some don't. I think a brow band looks good with a couple of crystals in it-oh and I only use real crystals-no plastic-the plastic looks cheap!
EventGirl 12-27-2005, 12:39 PM You are VERY talented!!!! Very impressive!! I am still going to have to get you to BLING up one of my bridles!
franksmoma 12-27-2005, 02:36 PM When you are ready just email me and we will work something out. I'll give you a great deal-at my cost.
justvern 12-27-2005, 08:45 PM That is some very nice work!! I really like the barb wire and the lone star conchos. I may have to have you look at Reno's bridle and the Aussie saddle and see what we can do with those. What about western belts? I would assume you could also do those?
franksmoma 12-27-2005, 11:00 PM Yes, spot tooling and names, conchos, and light jeweling ( jeweled-this is expensive-about 200.00 for a fully jeweled belt) now a days most belts are done on a wheel with a metal stamp-so the pattern is repeated. I don't know of any one who hand tools those anymore-I don't have the machine to do those all over patterns they are about $1500.00 for that.
longear_lover 12-28-2005, 12:21 AM I don't have the machine to do those all over patterns they are about $1500.00 for that.
I'm sorry but I refuse to get him a belt that costs more than the mule he rides!!! ::rasberry
franksmoma 12-28-2005, 12:26 PM The machine is that much..I don't have the machine to do it..It wouldn't cost a customer that much if I had it. The belt itself would run around $65.00. Do you see what I mean?? Tandy has it and you have to buy all the attachments seperately-they have different wheels/stamps that make the patterns. The sewing machine that I want for making saddles is about twice that, I have an older machine but it's not strong enough to go through the leather for saddles It's very expensive to do custom work and most people have no idea what costs a person up front just to do it. You never get out what you put in-I don't even charge people for my time, go on any custom saddle maker's site and see what they charge (if they even do it) for special personalized items. I charge a min. of $45.00 & up for spur straps-thats with real swarvski crystals, tooling and name put on it. For a pair of straps with simple tooling, dyed and conchos I charge a min. of $25.00. & up-Geeze I hope you didn't think a belt would cost $1500.00
zipstwista 12-28-2005, 12:46 PM Those are awesome pieces of work! What talent, That's amazing, I bet you could make a buisiness doing that. I am impressed!
longear_lover 12-28-2005, 03:04 PM Ummmm me? Think the belt was that much? Naw!!! Nope!!! Not me!!! No Way!!!! :o
*slinks away before she embarrASSes herself further*
franksmoma 12-29-2005, 01:41 PM Well I looked back at the post I made..It did sound like that..I'm sorry sometimes my brain works faster than my fingers on the keyboard....now who's slinking??? We need an icon with something like that. well any who I plan on saving my money up and getting those things I need, I could get real busy with those things and make some real money. i could gives those people at the local flea market a run for their money. They have a leather shop inside and the stuff they sell is made over in china or India and they make a mint! They cater to bikers and cowboys, no saddles but jackets, belts, chaps, wallets etc. They only tack store around here is the co-op and tractor supply, I had to close my business cause people just couldn't find me where i was, everything is location around here-but the rent goes up with that!
Redneckbabe 12-29-2005, 02:47 PM ::rasberry Hi FranksMoma,
