Hey Eventgirl, I used to own a tack shop last summer-I could have made you one like the one with the crystals in it, in any color of crystals you wanted-I customized alot of my stuff. I still buy old saddles and fix them up, and tool some stuff for friends and family. Here's a couple of pics of what I made. The first couple are of my horse frank's bridle & breast collar, then I customized this saddle w/jewels, then this "saw it" breast collar and then some spur straps i made for this nice lady-I made alot of spur straps.

Eventgirl: No, I can't do the Helmet!!LOL But they make helmet skins-my daughter has one-pretty neat. You should get one with flames on it!!

Horsefreak: It depends on how much jeweling you want on it-I can do a simple browband in a about 30-40 min. They'er are two styles-one with the jewel sets-these are brass sets that go over the jewel and into the leather (like the breast collar), and there are just the jewels that are set into shallow holes drilled into the leather (like the saddle & bridle on ebay) I like just the jewels alone, the brass takes away from the sparkle-I only used real stones too-like KIPPY-swarski crystals-some people use plastic jewels-they are cheap-and you can tell they'er cheap-no sparkle!

For you guys I would just charge you for materials-cost of jewels, sets or dyeing-whatever you wanted. I used to get anywhere from $20.00-30.00 per 10 jewels set. Thats alot cheaper than KIPPY gets-have you seen the cost of their shirts & belts? Wheeew. So if you wanted 20 large size jewels set-(thats about how many go into a browband-single line) I'd charge just $20.00 + shipping, I pay about 1.00 a jewel for small counts, bigger the count the more they take off. They'er are 350 jewels in that saddle alone + the headstall & breast collar add another 25.

Jeeze I didn't know they could do helmets-looks like a strip of ribbon or something that they attached the stones to. I wouldn't even try it unless I could see it upclose and fig out how they did it. Some stuff is done on machines-I do all hand setting. I wouldn't want to mess up and have them fall out of a pad-I don't know how they set them in there-like I said some of them are set with machines-like a rivet. This is what I do: I take a small gauge drill, drill a shallow hole into the leather-just big enough for the point of the stone to go into-and deep enough to be flush with the stone, I insert the stone to make sure it's a snug fit-take it back out-trim the excess leather around the hole-apply a little dye to cover up the undyed leather made by the drilling, apply jewelers glue in the hole as well as on the stone itself, put in the stone-go to the next. You can't ever get them out-I've tried-I put the wrong color stone in one and I used an ice pick to try to get it out-I ended up crushing the stone before it would come out-even then it still had a piece of the jewel underneath. I had to drill it out-that worked. the holes won't hurt the strength of your bridle either-they just go deep enough for the stone. I did research before I even attemped this-I bought a bridle with stones in it and took it apart to find out how they did it-done with a machine and alot of them went right through to the back of the bridle-you can see the point of the stone-thats way deeper than I go.

Looks to me that the helmet is getting ribbon pasted on, with the stones attached to the ribbon?? Am I wrong???? That would be a "Cheap" way to do it I suppose

Ok I'll send you my address. but you have to send me a link through my email address of the bridle you want to get on ebay-and make sure you give me enough time to find it and snipe it!! I check my email at least twice a day so if you see something you like-give me atleast a 5 hour heads up-and I don't know what the exchange rate is from US dollars to Can. money-do you know? For instance-something is $20.00 US what would it be in Canadian?

HorseFreak

There is a transfer of $$ differences on E-bay itself. It'll convert the $$$ into anything you want from anything. Which is cool, cause I get confused with the conversions between Canadian $$$$ and American $$$

LOL
