Okay, I was doing some RFD-TV stuff with Rhythm, lunging her, making her move in the direction I want her to go, yield to pressure..etc, and I had 2 long carrots in my ocket. Rhythm is an auction horse, and within 2 months, she really came to trust me. I saw some boos on how to teach your horse to bow:) hmmm....I wonder. I took a carrot, stuck it inbetween her legs, and she tried to reach the carrot, and she finally did, with her knees bent and her facer on the ground!
Now, I have NEVER seen a horse do it in my life! It was SO cool!
Now, one other thing is Rhythm will do ANYTHING for a treat!!! LOL
I am going out Saturday and will get some pics!

the only treat she will take are apple flavored horse treats....so maybe i can do it with those....

my horse bows I taught him by holding up on of his front legs and asking him to back with his halter then as he went back slightly i released I did it gradually getting him to go a little further each time till he touched the ground and I kept building on it using voice cues and pressure on the wither I taught him to lift his foot by taping him on the for arm with a dressage whip and then lifting his foot and rewarding him once he did it eventually he held it up just with the taping and went down with just pressure on the whither. using this method I got him to do it while sitting on him and only pressing on the whither and saying down. some times if he hasnt done it for a while I have to tap him gently with my foot on the fore arm.

i taught one of my horses to bow.. i placed the treat between his legs and they have to doulbe their leg to get to it.... pratice makes perfect use a word and then it becomes a comand with out treats.
i have a thread on spanish walk, its really easy to teach..... for those who like to give lots of treats to their horse.
make them work for it and be fun!

hehe we just sold a gelding who was trained to bow... it was neat cuz you could tap him on the shoulder w/ your whip while riding and he'd bow, or you could do it on the ground... some times he got comfoosed though and when you asked him to set up for showmanship or back (on the ground) he'd think you meant to bow.
I wanna teach my filly a bunch of tricks like that... I really want that Trickanometry book but haven't got around to buying it yet :(

before i sold my paint gelding i tought him how to bow...if you put him in the "bowing position" he would stay there until you asked him to life his head/leg back up...it was really cool as i could walk away and he would stay tehre
